- I use free box from bikeshop , reinforce the sides (couple 1/2 inch boards and carpenter glue do the trick ) , to ad extra protection to the frame I use plumbers pipes isolation , do not forget to write in box - Fragile - Bicycle , this site up . All small thinks put to zip lock back and secute to frame with ties . Do not use tape to secure box , straps is better idea in this times . Have a good trip .

The advice given above is OK up to a point. You will most likely have to remove both wheels and place them each side of the frame in the case or box. Remove the pedals, the wheel skewers and loosen and turn the stem clamp so that the bars lie flat along the frame. Fit an old axle in the front and rear dropouts to stop them being damaged during transit. Get a piece of garden hose and cut it along its length and wrap it round the large outer chain-ring securing it with tape and put your rear gear on the largest cog position to save it from being damaged. It seems a lot of preparation, but it is worth it, good luck.
